cleaning and Kitchen support (mondays)
We are looking for a friendly and reliable volunteer to join our cleaning team on
Monday mornings (8:30am – 11:00am). In this important behind‑the‑scenes role, you will help ensure our Tea Rooms are clean, safe and ready to welcome guests for the week ahead.
What you’ll be doing:
Assisting with cleaning the Front of House areas of the Tea Rooms
Following LTR’s cleaning protocols to maintain high standards
Supporting the Lead Cook by checking and unpacking grocery deliveries
Helping to ensure everything is in place for reopening on Tuesday mornings
This role would suit someone who:
Enjoys cleaning and takes pride in creating tidy, welcoming spaces
Is happy working in a quieter environment when the Tea Rooms are closed
Is reliable, practical and able to work as part of a small team
Doesn’t mind getting stuck in and helping where needed

“Blind Date with a book” helper
Do you love books and enjoy getting creative? We’re looking for a volunteer to help with our popular “Blind Date with a Book” initiative.
This fun and flexible role involves preparing donated paperback books so they’re ready to surprise and delight our guests.
What you’ll be doing:
Sorting through donated paperback books
Carefully wrapping books in brown paper
Decorating and adding creative, cryptic clues to give hints about the story inside
Helping create an engaging display that encourages guests to take a chance on a mystery read in exchange for a donation
This role would suit someone who:
Enjoys books and storytelling
Has a creative flair or enjoys arts and crafts
Likes working independently on a relaxed, flexible task
Is happy working either at the Tea Rooms or from home
Time commitment:
Flexible – approximately 30–60 minutes once a week or once a fortnight
